Alfredo Casella

Born: 25th July 1883, Turin, Italy
Died: 5th March 1947, Rome, Italy

Alfredo Casella was an Italian composer, organizer, pianist and conductor.
He was one of the most influential figure in Italian music between the two world wars.
The musician asserts himself most convincingly in instrumental music.
In the composer's art the "nervous" melodic lines, the discreet use of polytonality and chromatism,
the evocative reference to the music of the past and of Italian folklore are recurring and important elements.
Casella was an important piano teacher attentive to technique, interpretation and composition.
