Formerly part of Time Warner, the Warner Music Group was purchased in March 2004 by Edgar Bronfman, Jr. and a group of equity firms, including Access Industries Inc., a conglomerate owned by Leonard Blavatnik. It became publicly-traded company in 2005. Access Industries reacquired it in 2011 and is now its wholly-owned company. It is now the world’s largest privately held major music company. It is home to a collection of the best-known record labels in the music industry including Asylum, Atlantic, Nonesuch, Parlophone, Reprise, Rhino, Sire and Warner Records. Warner Music International, a leading company in national and international repertoire operates through 37 affiliates and numerous licensees in more than 50 countries.
