From the insert :
“The Unattended Serge 1978 and Five Evolutionary Things 1979 both comprise a series of works for the Serge Synthesizer based around self-sustaining patches. After being set up, the patches are left to evolve by themselves. I think of them as little organisms, each feeding off their own particular pitches and voltages.
Both works were made at the now long gone LaTrobe University Electronic Music Studio. The Unattended Serge was made in 1978, a few months after the initial recording of my 50 Synthesizer Greats series. Five Evolutionary Things was created in October 1979. Both series were made using tha same Serge Synthesizer.
The LaTrobe Music Department itself was closed down in 1999.”
