All Along the Northern Evening is the Full-Length debut of smallertide which consists of a Minneapolis duo of guitarists Sam Sharp and Joel Almberg. The pair released an EP of miniature guitar pieces Crickets in 2016, a debut well received by US college and freeform radio. All Along the Northern Evening provides Guitar melodies, treated with reverb and effects. The tracks are fleeting, lasting just a few minutes, and together with the hazy sound, the record has a twilight feel. But it is not just pretty, easy listening - there is the occasionally placed dissonant note, a melancholy ache."The guitar pieces are more about texture than coherence, but they have a lovely drift (not unlike early San Agustin), and bend time as easily as some bands bend forks."Byron Coley - The Wire Magazine The Track "Left for New Orleans" Appears on the Wire Tapper 44
