After the release in 2020 of the astonishing "Qu i s'en va un peu" (5 different orchestrations from the same song, sung in 5 languages), the duo Marc SARRAZY / LaurentROCHELLE innovates again with the new concept declined in this disc, Cyclotimic
Songs, consisting in giving life to a kind of musical Frankenstein. How? 'Or' What ? In
using pieces already recorded as an acoustic duet (piano - bass clarinet or
soprano saxophone), "songs from their albums Songs for the Left Ear" and using it as raw material. After sound dissections
multiple, musical fragments are assembled, reorganized, recomposed with
new musical ingredients to create original scores with guests and
the voice. New music thus comes to life, far removed from the basic material.
Particularly colorful, the overall result oscillates between pop-jazz, ballads
minimalist, dreamlike poetry and cingnic explorations (Fantmas, John Malkovich, the
spaghetti western or Bollywood are called here!).
Among the headliners invited here are the french writer Antoine VOLODINE and the American rapper Mike LADD.
And the pieces scroll like little sound films.
