On vinyl, here's a reissue of a wonderful privately-issued LP from 1981, though the music rather reminds of the early '70s. Featuring leader Paul Marcano, this British project/band's album delivers a hybrid of sounds from the realms of cosmic psych, progressive folk and new age. The home-recorded (yet hi-fi sounding) 'Islands In Space' comprises acoustic jams, backwards guitars, synths galore and more. It carries a singular quality, defies easy categorization and has long been savored by collectors of otherworldly joys. Highly recommended to fans of a.o. Dreamies, Bobb Trimble, Ramases, McDonald & Giles and Simones, the LP is housed in an old-school tip-on sleeve and includes an insert featuring informative liner notes by collector Jack D. Fleischer (culled from interviewing the artist), lyrics and rare photos.
