'Heat Leisure pt.1' is a relentless instrumental ride, its part 2 is a cinematographic desert ballad from the meadows of Virginia in the sunset. Pontiak is an American neo-psychedelicrock band of three brothers from the Blue Ridge Mountain area of Virginia. They moved from Baltimore to the same farm in Virginia where they work and play together. They're considered one of the most notable psych bands from the US: they're majestic and fresh in their anachronism like Black Mountain, Arboretum, White Hills and The Black Angels, and powerful in their Melvins-style melody/noise dichotomy.

In the summer of 2012 Pontiak collaborated with Greg Fox (Guardian Alien, Zs) and Steve Strohmeier (Arbouretum, Beach House) to record Heat Leisure on their farm in Virginia. The music was featured in an 18-minute short film of the same name that premiered as an official selection at the Chicago International Music and Movies Festival. This 7" contains two edited tracks from this session.
