Solit�r is the solo outlet for multi-instrumentalist Mikael Tuominen, known from the Swedish psychedelic bands Kungens M�n, Fanatism, Automatism and Eye Make The Horizon, and '1989' is the debut album under this moniker. It grew out of Mikael's urge to see what it was like to hold all the strings and compose and perform his own album. This experiment, taking into account his penchant for musicians like Tom Waits, Stina Nordenstam, Portishead, The Cure and certain film scores, resulted in 10 songs, which all have a melancholic atmosphere and a lot of ambience. The result is a quite eclectic album with influences from pop, rock and psychedelic that has to be discovered. Well, a summary of this experiment couldn't get pointed out better than by the artist himself: "... the strange thing is that the sum of the parts always surprise you, no matter how much in control you think you are!" Limited to 222 copies on black vinyl.
