Glasgows garage-rock overlords The Primevals are back with a stunning new album, Second Nature. Led by frontman Michael Rooney, the group has amassed a consistently impressive back catalogue since its inception in the early 80s. Second Nature marries The Primevals trademark visceral rock & roll to deeply reflective lyrics characterised by hard truths and gritty determination. Former bassist John Honeyman brings an extra dimension to the groups sound with hypnotic organ riffs that invoke the spirit of John Cale, augmenting the restless creativity of guitarists Tom Rafferty and Martyn Rogers and the propulsive rhythm section of Ady Gillespie and Paul Bridges. Second Nature is not only an incendiary slab of prime garage-rock, with song titles like We Die Young Here, The Have Nots and Now is the Time, The Primevals street-level politics have never been sharper - this is music for our troubled times.
