Recorded live at Roulette in 2010, the continuous 68-minute performance features trumpeter Chris DiMeglio's recurring motif and Hooker's carefully marshaled grooves. The intensity ebbs and flows, with standout moments like Dave Ross' slide guitar solo on 'Character' and Adam Lane's atmospheric bass work on 'Mother's History (Untold).' Inspired by Richard Wright's unfinished novel 'A Father's Law,' the piece combines musical exploration with spoken word elements.
