LAST COPIES. Underwater Sleeping Societys The Dead Vegas is the 3rd and most ambitious album of the Helsinki-based indie rock sextet so far. The album has already gotten a lot of great reviews and comparisons to house-hold indie names like Arcade Fire, The Flaming Lips and The National. The format of the new album is quite unique as The Dead Vegas is released as a CD-VinylDisc, which means that the other side of the full-lenght CD album can also be played on a turntable, featuring a bonus track. The Dead Vegas is mixed by Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm of The Soundtrack Of Our Lives and mastered by "indieguru" Fred Kevorkian (previous works include The White Stripes, Sonic Youth and the Nationals Boxer to name a few). "The Dead Vegas is an effective collection of bittersweet indie pop songs, rich on Weltschmerz and touching on the same indie nerve as UK acts like Editors and Doves with peaks in grandiose Counting Stars, semi-psychedelic ballad Body Blues with its spacey chorus and power-pop gem Painting The Dead. -Peter Krogholm (Allscandinavian.com)
