Elizabeth Watts
English soprano vocalist, born 1979 in Norwich.
Watts was a Norwich Cathedral chorister and studied archaeology at Sheffield University before winning a scholarship to the Royal College of Music Britten International Opera School where she studied singing from 2002 to 2005 with Lilian Watson. From 2005 to 2007, she was a member of the Young Singers’ Programme at English National Opera. Watts has won numerous prizes, most recently the 2006 Kathleen Ferrier Prize, the MIDEM 2007 Outstanding Young Artist Award and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award in 2011.
