Kning Disk

Kning Disk is organized by designer Mattias Nilsson, sound artist Dan Fröberg and A.S. Bessa to disseminate post-war and contemporary works that merge sound, text and image.

Kning Disk presents first-rate, limited editions and various kinds of presentations where innovative composers of yesteryear shares space with the kindred spirits of the groundbreaking artists, designers and writers of tomorrow.

Kning Disk is the record label that combines music, sound art and design. Every disc is specially designed by the founder Mattias Nilsson, who after he has designed the packaging also folds, cuts and pastes together all the covers himself. Kning Disk was created in 2005 when Nilsson was still a student at School of Design and Craft at Göteborg University. While studying he started to work with exhibitions by the artist Öyvind Fahlström, and it gave him the idea of starting Kning Disk.

Another source of inspiration was Kalejdoskop, a publishing house founded in 1978 as an extension of the art review with the same title. For many years they published art and music in small, fine, handmade editions. Kning Disk is a natural continuation of Kalejdoskops’ achievement, whose founder Sture Lindblad has told Nilsson that he has now \“taken over the baton\”.
