Remote Control was founded in 2001 by Harvey Saward (Shock Records' International A&R Manager for ten years) and Steve Cross (previously General Manager of a division of Festival Mushroom Records).
Remote Control represents major international labels in Australia. Those labels include Beggars Banquet, XL Recordings, 4AD, Mo Wax, Mantra Recordings, Wiiija Records, Too Pure, Matador, Domino Recording Company Ltd. and Bella Union.
Distribution is primarily handled by Inertia.
Remote Control started the sub-label Dot Dash exclusively for Australian artists in 2004.
