Torque Records

Torque Records was an independent record label from Govan, Saskatchewan, Canada. The company was initially founded by Kevin Gales in late 2002 under the name Torque Recording Company and focused on christian music, with no genre restriction. The company was affiliated with Govan Music Group and quickly found success with Northwest American, Western Canadian and Prairie-Province christian metalcore and hardcore bands and ultimately shifted its focus to that genre.

In November of 2006, after having put out over 20 releases, Gales founded the imprint With A Bullet Records to release more poppy bands. The record label continued to grow considerably and in June of 2007, Gales launched a second imprint, Throttle Records. Throttle Records' purpose was to release all of Torque Recording Company's heavier (metalcore, deathcore) bands, and keep Torque as a more accessible record label. In 2007, Gales started using the name Torque Records unofficially to refer to the main record label, but this title did not appear on releases until 2008.

On November 13th of 2007, it was announced that Torque Recording Company had signed an exclusive distribution deal with Victory Records for the regions of the USA, UK and Australia (starting in 2008) and Canada (starting in 2009). Through this distribution deal, an agreement was made whereas Throttle Records and With A Bullet Records would consolidate back with Torque Recording Company, under the name Torque Records, the later of which would retain all of the signed artists' contracts and merge them into Torque Records' existing roster. The first release under the new name was TRC039 Blind Witness's album "Silences Are Words".

In 2009, Torque signed an exclusive digital distribution agreement with Distort Entertainment. Torque Records eventually folded in 2009 after putting out over 80 releases in its 7 years of existence.
