Hooveriii

HooverIII (pronounced "Hoover 3"), sometimes originally stylized as Hoover III or recently as Hooveriii, started out as a solo project for Bert Hoover (Jesus Sons, Mind Meld). Bert wrote and performed all songs prior to the release of their self-titled album and Guillotine single in 2018. During this solo period, live shows would consist of a drum machine, Bert on guitar and vocals and fellow bandmate Erik Lake (Jesus Sons, Mind Meld) taking on bass duties. After a while, Jeff Fribourg (Numb.er) was brought in as keyboard/synth player for live shows. Prior to the release of the self-titled album a new full band was formed. The full band now includes Bert still on guitar and vocals, James Novick on synths, Gabe Flores (Babylon) on guitar, vocals, and sax, Kaz Mirblouk (Numb.er) on bass, bass synth, and vocals, and Shaughnessy Starr (Jesus Sons, Triptides) on drums. Some of the early solo tracks utilizing the drum machine were reworked and included on the self-titled album.

The first cassette release, Quest for Blood, is a compilation of all but two tracks from the initial digital-only releases Vol. I, Vol. II, Vol. III, and Vol. IV, which were removed from Bandcamp after releasing the cassette and associated digital album. Quest for Blood and all subsequent releases remain available digitally, and sometimes physically, via Bandcamp.
