Luís de Freitas Branco
Portuguese composer (b. Lisbon, 12 October 1890 — d. Lisbon, 27 November 1955), introducer of the modernism in Portuguese music. His principal body of work is contained in the four symphonies, composed between 1924 and 1952. Elder brother of conductor Pedro de Freitas Branco and father of musicologist João de Freitas Branco.
