Medusa
Medusa is a progressive rock/metal band from Chicago, Illinois, USA, that was formed in 1973.
In 1972 Gary Brown (guitar) and Lee Teuber (drums) teamed up with Kim Gudaniec (bass) and Ed Paprocki (vocals) forming the short-lived band Apparition. Soon afterwards takes over a new vocalist/guitarist Donna Fields and they redubbe the group Medusa after the hideous Gorgon. Fresh out of hard rock band Kaleidoscope the singer Pete Basaraba join Medusa. In 1976 they recorded 2 tracks at Pepperhead Studios, Oak Park, IL, resulted in their only single released in the same year. Meantime various originals were taped in their Portage Park basement. In 1977 Medusa disbanded and faded into less than myth, virtually unhearded and unhearded of, until 2013's "First Step Beyond" LP/CD reanimeted their 1976-vintage output.
